The City of Edmond realizing the health, social, physical, environmental and economic benefits to trails, has a made commitment to trails in our community. With a completed Trails Master Plan in 1999, these identified projects are seen as an investment in the future as they increase community pride and improve the quality of life.

Two trails are at the forefront of the project list. First, Spring Creek Trail will run from a-soon to be constructed “wellness park” on the west side of I-35 between 2nd and 15th Streets to Spring Creek Park at Arcadia Lake. Next, Arcadia Lake Trail is a multi-use 18 mile trail around the lake that enables walkers, joggers and cyclists to enjoy the natural beauty of the area while preserving the native habitat and vegetation. This trail will serve the Oklahoma City Metro’s need as the longest and widest trail available to recreational users. More information can be found at arcadialaketrail.com.

Latest Update
Construction is projected to be finished by December on the Fox Lake Trail. This trail will connect Mercy Hospital and Fox Lake Lane behind Wal-Mart and Sam’s. A primitive trail is already established in this area. This approximate one mile stretch will be a great opportunity for those in rehab at Mercy Hospital or those coming east on 15th Street to connect to the future Spring Creek and Arcadia Lake Trails.

Bids will be received this fall for the construction of the Spring Creek Trail. This trail will be from Fox Lake Lane and I-35 to Spring Creek Park at Arcadia Lake.  The 3.1 mile trail is expected to be completed during summer of 2015.

The Arcadia Lake Trail Coalition together with the Edmond Land Conservancy continue to work on public support, promotions and agreements while beginning fund-raising efforts for the construction of the 18-mile Arcadia Lake Trail. An engineering firm has started designing the complete loop.
