EDMOND, OK – The Arcadia Lake Trail Coalition, in partnership with the Edmond Land Conservancy and the City of Edmond, is proud to announce it will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for the paved, multi-use Spring Creek Trail at Arcadia Lake on Saturday, October 24 at 9:00 a.m. The ceremony will be held at the future site of Wellness Park at the intersection of Fox Lake Lane and the West I-35 Frontage Road.

The Spring Creek Trail will cover 3.1 miles beginning just north of Fox Lake Lane, and running east along the creek to Spring Creek Park at Arcadia Lake. This key trail will be the connection point to the future Arcadia Lake Trail encompassing the lake.

The Arcadia Lake Trail has been unanimously endorsed by Edmond and Oklahoma City’s mayors and city councils, as well as the Oklahoma County Board of Commissioners, the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments, the University of Central Oklahoma, Edmond Public Schools and the Central Oklahoma Homebuilders Association along with many other community organizations and property owners.

The 18.8-mile trail will have multiple access points and be the longest and widest trail available to walkers, joggers, cyclists and wellness and outdoor enthusiasts. Designed with an 18-foot divided, multi-use paved trail in all high traffic areas around the lake, safety is one of the trail’s top priorities. The trail will also feature two, iconic I-35 gateway bridges, a repurposed historic bridge and numerous rest stops.

“With years of preparation and hard work, we are thrilled to celebrate the ground breaking of this impactful and worthwhile trail,” said Coalition Chairman Kasey Evans. “What started with the effort of a few individuals has grown and inspired many, including myself. This ground breaking will demonstrate the power of private and public efforts toward improved health, fitness and safety for the OKC Metro community.”

The Spring Creek Trail is being funded by the City of Edmond at a total cost of $3,225,500. The Arcadia Lake Trail is being funded through private funding and donations. For information about getting involved with the Arcadia Lake Trail, please visit arcadialaketrail.com.
